Executive summary

This review evaluated clinical outcome data of proton therapy for tonsillar cancer,  mucosal melanoma, and HPVpositive head and neck cancers, as well as comparative data of toxicity, quality of life and cost-effectiveness. The authors concluded that proton therapy represents a promising alternative due to the reduced complications in healthy tissues, which is particularly important in the young patient group with HPV-positive tumors, who have a better prognosis and longer survival.
