Anthropomorphic lung phantom based validation of in-room PT 4D-CBCT image correction for dose calculation
Evaluation of a 4D-virtual CT (vCT) on a porcine ex-vivo functional lung phantom based on IBA CBCT data, to monitor and manage tissue motion. The concept of the vCT lies on using a motion-aware spatial and temporal method algorithm (MA-ROOSTER) to generate a 4D-vCT. Dose distribution is calculated using the initial planning CT and daily images, to generate a virtual 4DCT on which a motion-compensated dose distribution can be computed. This allows to verify the treatment plan adequacy to the current breathing motion, a priori (for online adaptive PT) or a posteriori (for log-based QA).
