Clinical outcomes and toxicities of proton radiotherapy for gastrointestinal neoplasms: a systematic review
A systematic review examined clinical outcomes and toxicities of proton therapy for gastrointestinal neoplasms. The findings include that proton therapy was associated with reduced toxicity for esophageal cancer and pancreatic cancer while achieving similar disease control and survival compared to photon techniques.
For hepatocellular carcinoma, proton therapy demonstrated a trend towards improved local control and progression-free survival.
