A physicochemical model of reaction kinetics supports peroxyl radicalrecombination as the main determinant of the FLASH effect.
A theoretical model that was developed collaboratively between Pr. Favaudon (Curie) and IBA in an attempt to explain the origin of the FLASH effect. This model predicts that contrary to common belief, the oxygen depletion might not necessarily be the underlying cause of the FLASH effect. Interestingly, this model also predicts that the FLASH effect may occur under normoxic conditions without a substantial depletion of the free O2 in the tissue.
