ACR-ARS Practice Parameter for the Performance of Proton Beam Therapy.
This a practice parameter and technical standard document developed by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Radium Society (ARS). serve as a tool in the appropriate application of proton therapy in the care of cancer patients or other patients with conditions in which radiation therapy is indicated. It addresses clinical implementation of proton radiation therapy, including personnel qualifications, quality assurance (QA) standards, indications, and suggested documentation. Standard indications, including CNS, spine and paraspinal, eye, head and neck, breast and chest wall, lung and intrathoracic, liver and other sites in the abdomen, pelvis including genitourinary, rectum, anal, gynecologic, pediatrics and reirradiation, are detailed in rationale, simulation and immobilization, treatment planning and special considerations.
